About Run for Something

Since launching in January 2017, we have recruited more than 80,000 potential political candidates, endorsed over 1,800 and elected more than 600 — and over half of those candidates are women, over half of them are BIPOC, and 21% are LGBTQIA+. Our alumni have meaningfully and intentionally made life better for millions of Americans across the country. We are a high-reaching, hungry team changing the face of politics in America. Responsibilities:
Run for Something is currently hiring for a Community Manager. In this role, you will report to the Candidate and Alumni Senior Manager, as part of the Community Team.

Your primary responsibilities are:

- Coordinate and facilitate monthly small-group meetings between election administrator candidates to create a peer support network during their campaigns
- Support with coordination of one in-person convening of all election administrator candidates in summer 2022 to help form strong bonds and offer opportunities for skill development around campaigns and elected responsibilities
- Coordinate with network of potential supports - including regional directors, mentors, external partners, alumni, and other RFS staff - to make resources and training available to this candidate cohort

Manage candidate, alumni, and recruitment programs (approximately 50%):
- Manage the Alumni Advisor program to pair new, first-time endorsed candidates with prior RFS candidates (alumni) who can share their perspectives and experiences as peers to help them navigate the challenges of running for office; recruit alumni to serve in the alumni advisor role; identify effective matches based on shared election or candidate characteristics or concerns; communicate with paired alumni and candidates to confirm successful introductions
- Coordinate “See Yourself Running” virtual events 6-9 times a year to inspire underrepresented and/or marginalized segments of the candidate pipeline to commit to running; invite and prepare alumni panelists; coordinate communications to candidate pipeline audience and any partner organizations; manage live event logistics and follow-up. In addition, in 2022, RFS is exploring expanding the program to speak to candidates running in rural districts, running for specific types of offices, and running for office with non-traditional career paths.
- Coordinate and present weekly candidate introductory candidate webinar for new sign-ups and potential candidates interested in learning more about how to prepare to run for office
- Coordinate key internal processes around new candidate endorsements; follow-up with endorsed candidates to ensure timely form submissions; review and edit endorsed candidate biographies for publication
